Mahmoud Chouki’s Safar Music Series Headlines Friday Nights at NOMA

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Friday Nights at NOMA on Sept. 13 will feature another in a series of East-West Safar music collaborations led by New Orleans-based Moroccan musician Mahmoud Chouki, in concert with Georgie Petrov and Sam Dickie. Arrive early and stay late for the full lineup of events:

  • 5 – 8 p.m.: Art on the Spot drop-in activity table
  • 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.: Safar concert
  • 6 p.m.: Gallery Talk with Curator Katie Pfohl on Bodies of Knowledge
  • 7 p.m.: Gallery Talk with Curator Mel Buchanan on The Quilts of Gee’s Bend
  • 7:30 p.m.: Screening of the short film “While I Still Can” (featuring Gee’s Bend quilters)
All galleries and exhibitions, Café NOMA, and the Museum Shop will remain open until 9 p.m.
