Manning Family Children’s Hospital’s 44th annual Sugarplum Ball blossomed into an evening of glamour, generosity and good times March 28 at the River City Ballroom and Plaza at Mardi Gras World.
Presented by LEMOINE, this year’s ball, themed “Where the Garden Grows,” began with the Floral Fête VIP Party, presented by the Ray & Jessica Brandt Family Foundation, where guests enjoyed cuisine by Ralph Brennan Catering, Napoleon House and Ralph’s on the Park, accompanied by the sounds of NOLA String Quartet.
Once the main event got underway, the evening shifted into high gear with a performance by Atlanta’s Motown-styled Az-IzZ. Guests also sampled signature cocktails and bites from more than 40 restaurants, making the ballroom a garden of culinary delights.
The silent auction featured hundreds of tempting items, while the $50,000 Flourishing Fortune Cash Raffle, presented by the Ray & Jessica Brandt Family Foundation, was popular, as well.
Event co-chairs Meg Baldwin and Mary Martin Roth led more than 100 Host Committee members in their efforts to raise funds in support of Manning Family Children’s Hospital.
“The Sugarplum Ball is a beautiful testament to the collective impact of our community, “ said Mary Martin Roth. “As mothers and longstanding members of this community, it gives us great pride and comfort to be a part of this transformative night that supports the health and well-being of the children of our region.”
Fun Fact: The ball raised a record-breaking amount this year: $1.7 million.
