The first Monday of May each year holds a special place in the world of fashion. This day is marked by the annual Costume Institute Gala, or the Met Gala, fundraising event in New York, benefitting the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
This year’s theme Manus x Machina Fashion in the Age of Technology brought a futuristic, avant-garde vibe to the iconic steps of the museum. The exhibit overview states it “will explore how fashion designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear.”
Wedding white, gunmetal, Balmain and Versace were all the talk of the night.
Some of our favorite wedding whites included Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Ralph Lauren Collection, Jennifer Hudson in H&M, Margot Robbie in Calvin Klein Collection, Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Gabriela Hearst, Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell, Emily Ratajkowski in Prabal Gurung, Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace and Joan Smalls who combined white with Balmain.
A few of our Balmain favorites included Cindy Crawford and Jourdan Dunn.
Versace was a favorite for some of Hollywood’s young stars like Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik.
