A Saints win was the perfect kick-off to the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Gala on October 25 at the New Orleans Marriott. Guests cheered on the Black and Gold on television before the main event began, and as soon as the game ended, 14 of the city’s celebrated chefs second-lined from a cocktail reception into the main event.
The gleeful 600-plus partygoers sampled from a variety of cuisine, which included scallops, braised short ribs and redfish, while sipping on champagne and other libations.
Co-chairs of the event were Dr. Juan Gershanik and Linda Gray; chef chairman was Mat Murphy of the Ritz-Carlton; host chef was the Marriott’s Mark Quitney; and emcee was Camille Whitworth of WDSU.
Special guest Marlene Donovan was presented with the Freda Lupin Butterfly Award for her outstanding philanthropic efforts and community service to the greater New Orleans area.
Other highlights of the evening included live and silent auctions, as well as musical entertainment.
The March of Dimes Signature Chef’s Gala is one of the city’s most acclaimed gourmet extravaganzas each year, raising money to help save babies from being born to soon – a common problem that can lead to lifelong complications.
