Marsiglia – LaCorte Wedding

Marsiglia - LaCorte WeddingJennifer and Michael

Little did Jennifer St. John LaCorte and Michael Jay Marsiglia know that years after they shared a lunch table at Metairie Park Country Day School, they would one day be dating, much less married. It took them until college—separate ones in different states—to start dating, but eventually they landed in New Orleans to attend law school (Jennifer went to Tulane, Michael to Loyola). After graduation, the duo became engaged in August 2005.

The wedding was Nov. 5, 2006, with the couple choosing a classic city locale—the Audubon Zoo area—for the ceremony and reception. The evening ceremony was held at the Odenheimer Sea Lion Pool, at which Jennifer wore a diamond-white silk mikado strapless dress custom made by Isabella Margianu that was complemented with a floral arrangement of yellow roses interspersed with stephanotis. Her “borrowed” was a diamond necklace and earrings from her mother-in-law Nancy Marsiglia, “something old” was her vintage engagement ring, “something blue” was a handkerchief passed amongst her college friends who embroidered their initials and wedding date in blue, and “something new” were her white Reef flip flops. Her bridesmaids, wearing Amsale melon-colored tissue taffeta dresses, also wore Reef flip-flops, though in a different color. Their flowers consisted of roses in rich oranges, reds and yellows. The ceremony, which was officiated by Rabbi Edward Cohn and Fr. Andrew Taorima, ended with “All You Need is Love” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

The reception was a quick walk over to the Audubon Tea Room, which was aglow with lights and festooned with flowers—the floral arrangements for the wedding were created by Jill Mercer. As a busy attorney, Jennifer turned to Michele Adams to be the wedding coordinator, and Jennifer says she was “amazing … our savior.”

The six-tier wedding cake by Zoe’s Bakery was three flavors—traditional, strawberry and Bailey’s Irish Cream—while in place of a groom’s cake, there was a chocolate fondue fountain and Berger Cookies (from Maryland.) Jennifer says they cut the cake early so they could visit guests and dance—Louisiana Spice
was the night’s band.

The American Southwest beckoned the couple for their honeymoon, and they traveled to the Grand Canyon, where they stayed at El Tovar Hotel (located only 20 feet from the edge of the canyon!), and to the Four Seasons Hotel in Scottsdale, Az. One highlight included a hot air balloon ride that was topped off by a sunrise breakfast. Back in Metairie, Jennifer is a law clerk for Judge Joan Benge, while Michael is an attorney at Berrigan, Litchfield, Schonekas, Mann, Traina & Bolner.
