Max Mipro

Max MiproIn 1968, while working as an agent for a carpet and curtain manufacturer, Mipro decided to start his own business—out of his garage.
At first he sold carpets and curtains, then added Oriental rugs to the mix. The business, he says, kept growing, “like mold,” and he moved to Oak Street, where the store is still located.

Today, Maximilian’s International Show-rooms is a wholesale store offering an enormous selection of more than 3,000 rugs in all sizes, shapes and colors. You can even have Mipro designs a rug for you. He sketches a drawing, then sends his designs along with yarn swatches to places such as China and India where they are made. The showroom also sells curtains, furniture, household accessories, fine fabrics (46,000 different types, according to Mipro), trims and wallpaper. This large selection attracts decorators, who often come in with clients to pick out furnishings in a number of styles.

Mipro has won awards, such as the American Society of Interior Designers’ “Industry Foundation Merit Award,” on statewide and national levels. He also teaches seminars on interior design at colleges in the region.

“I enjoy helping people beautify their homes and I have fun doing it,” Mipro says. So don’t be shy: make an appointment and see how Mipro can make your home that much better.
