As a New Orleans native, do you feel you have a unique insight into the design history and feel of a great New Orleans home through your work with Meg Geraci Designs?
Like much of our country, New Orleans has adapted over time as new people immigrated with their own visions for building a new life. I believe a New Orleans interior starts with understanding why certain design decisions were made in the first place, and how to integrate them into today’s world.
When helping a client discover their “Dream Space”, how do you best approach that?
Initial questions and a vision board are crucial to really nail down the aesthetic we are going for. At that point, I begin sourcing local vendors, antique shops, and online outlets to find the best deals. We have so many great local resources in New Orleans, and it makes finding natural character so much easier.
Are there any projects you are particularly proud of from the recent past?
I’m working on a custard shop called Ruthie’s in Uptown right now. I’m obsessed. We have been working closely for almost a year to create a retro vision that is fun, family-friendly, inviting, and cozy. @ruthiesfrozencustard on Instagram!
