The other day, there was buzz around the office about the New Orleans tricentennial celebration next year. It’s easy to assume that a city, rich in centuries-worth of history, could only serve those looking for a traditionally historic wedding.
Yes, New Orleans is surrounded by decades and centuries-old buildings, but nestled among the southern charm sits restaurants and venue locations fit for the modern man and woman.
From St. Charles Avenue to the CBD, couples are sure to find picture-perfect modern and contemporary spaces to fill out their dream wedding vision.
In the current Summer/Autum 2017 issue of New Orleans Bride magazine, Marie Simoneaux compiled a list of nine modern spaces from around the city. These locations are sure to wow for any Big Day, so for the LTEC readers, we decided to individually highlight each of those locations.
Last week, we highlighted Parisian-inspired Eiffel Society. We’ve seen the newly renovated Prytania Street restaurant and event space La Thai. In part one, we rode down Magazine Street to Il Mercato, stopped by Emeril’s Delmonico in part two, and last week we headed to the CBD for The Chicory.
This week, we are taking a look into the new NOPSI hotel.

NOPSI
This new luxury hotel is housed in the former headquarters of New Orleans Public Service Inc. and the name isn’t the only thing that stuck. Opening at the end of June, the hotel is being renovated to look like it did in the 1920s. The columns, vaulted ceilings, arched windows and exposed brick and pipe will remain. The hotel is rich in history, but it is a far cry from your traditional venue. With a ballroom, courtyard, rooftop and five breakout rooms, NOPSI can serve anywhere from 25 to 600 guests.
