Moisturizing is Key for Mardi Gras

Drinking in excess? Check. Consuming an inordinate amount of sugar via King Cake? Check. Burning the candle at both ends? Triple check!

If you are checking these boxes too, chances are your body and skin are in dire need of moisture. Aside from drinking water, which is paramount, perhaps there are a few products we can lean on to help us stay glowy throughout the Carnival season? It’s worth a shot! I phoned multiple friends and local wellness proprietors for suggestions.

First up is local blogger Caroline Milling of Home with Caroline, who recommends, Oliveda Anti Aging Face Cream. “The brand is an all-organic company with a strict European standard of ingredients,” says Milling. “It’s also a completely waterless product, which according to the company, eliminates the need for additives to stave off contamination. This also allows for more of the actual powerful ingredients to shine – without becoming watered down.”

Sophie, another passionate skin care lover and the lead aesthetician at Audubon Facial Plastics recommends several products they keep in stock at the practice. “My moisturizing hack is to apply SkinCeuticals HA Serum Intensifier right after I wash my face, while it’s still a bit damp,” said Sophie. “The timing of this assures the moisture stays locked in.” After her retinol, she recommends hydrating with the Triple Lipid Restore cream. And if you have the time, Sophie highly recommends a HydraFacial.  A deep clean, exfoliation, extraction, hydration + blue/red LED therapy all in one.

Last but not least, several of my most dewy-faced friends, who wish to remain anonymous, sent over their top picks to add to the pot! Enjoy and remember that everyone’s skin is different so it’s wise to consult your dermatologist before trying anything new.
