Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Service and New Orleans Hillel took advice from George, John, Paul and Ringo with “Come Together 2009.” Saturday, November 14, the Fab Four main event, “Here Comes the Sun,” was a hit with American English, a cover band, entertaining fans. The only dilemma of the evening was: What is your favorite Beatles song?
Tasty treats by Brack May of Green Tomato Productions and an open bar kept the people (in creative “Beatles attire”) grooving to their favorite tunes by the world’s favorite band. The British Pub aired the Hornets game and served a special Beatles drink created by Cure. Plenty of activities marked with Beatles titles amused guests. There was “Money Can’t Buy Me Love” silent auction as well as “Day Tripper” live “Sports & Entertainment” action with Lee Zurik and Hornets owner George Shinn with wife Denise. A “Like Dreamers Do” raffle with a grand prize valued at $5,000 was the hot ticket of the night.
The people, or dreamers, of the event included Peter and Vicky Sperling, Sheila Gold, Henry Rosenblat, Julie Weiner, Sam Zurik, Lauren Greenberg Wakeman, Amy Berrins Shapiro, Peter Sather and Harold Kaufman.
