In 2001, Baz Luhrmann introduced Satine and Christian’s story to the world while set behind the backdrop of the Moulin Rouge and popular, modern (for the story’s timeline) music. For two decades now, we’ve all been singing along to its version of “Your Song” and the mashup “Elephant Love Medley.”
“Moulin Rouge! The Musical” hit the Broadway stage in June 2019 with Aaron Tveit as Christian and Karen Olivo as Satine to rave reviews. At the 2020 Tony’s, the production took home 10 awards – including one for its leading man, as well as Best Direction, Best Choreography and many design awards.
Currently, the touring company has made its home at The Saenger Theatre until April 16. We caught up with castmember Jennifer Wolfe to get her take on the show and her time in the city.
