The Louisiana SPCA held its Howling Success 2009 gala, “Hooray for Howlywood,” on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Grand Oaks Mansion, also known as the new Mardi Gras World.

Guests were encouraged to show their Howlywood glam at the SPCA’s annual gala benefitting its Louisiana chapter. The evening began at the Patron Party when Johnny Angel & the Swingin’ Demons set the mood with Rat Pack sounds of Old Hollywood. La Petite Grocery served exclusive delicacies throughout the evening.

During the gala DJ Damion Yancy kept an upbeat energy flowing all night. There was both a silent and live auction at the event that included these fabulous items: a Saints football trip and package to Tampa Bay and New Orleans games; a New Orleans Public Belt RR Private Excursion; a Joel Catering private dinner; and Brad Adams private wines. Event goers were able to take snapshots in their own personal photo booth while dressing up as their favorite “Howlywood” star for the costume contest. Many of New Orleans finest restaurants supplied food and beverages for the event, including: La Petite Grocery, Sucré, Patois, The Pelican Club, Dick & Jenny’s, Gautreau’s, Red Fish Grill, The Grill Room and Arnaud’s.

Shannon Jones, Lynda Woolard, and Donna Richardson were all event co-chairs while Dean Howard was event vice chair for Howlywood. The 2009 The Dorothy Dorsett Brown Humanitarian Award went to the NOLA City Bark Board of Directors. The event was a success, raising almost $200,000.
