NEW ORLEANS (press release) – His Majesty, King Flash Lamar (aka as Jumping Jack Flash) XXIX and Her Majesty, Queen Mabel Bell XXIX will have their traditional Friday lunch at the historic Galatoire’s Restaurant, Friday, Feb. 18, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Dressed in regal garments, King Flash and Queen Mabel will be honored with champagne toasts and canine cuisine. The Galatoire’s staff will serve the royals their customary and lavish meal of lamb chops. “King Jumping Jack Flash of Highgrove” lives part time in Jackson, Mississippi. The rest of his time is spent in the French Quarter relaxing on the courtyard, or chilling in his pool listening to the exciting sounds of the Vieux Carre’. Queen Mabel, an adorable Chihuahua mix, was once a homeless puppy in a rural shelter in west Louisiana.
The Krewe of Barkus will parade Sunday, Feb. 20, starting at 2 p.m. marching from Armstrong Park and proceeding through the French Quarter. This year’s theme is “Barkingham Palace: Barkus is Going for the Crown.” Not to be missed, the pre-pawty parade in Louis Armstrong Park kicks-off at 10:30 a.m. Curious observers are welcome to watch. All hail King Flash and Queen Mabel!
