Mystic Krewe of Nyx to Raise Playground Funds with Murder Mystery Dinner

NEW ORLEANS — The Mystic Krewe of Nyx will present its annual fundraiser dinner on Saturday, September 28 at The Theatre at Harrah’s Casino. The theme is Death of a Gangster, a 1920s mafia murder mystery. Funds raised from the night will go toward building the first of three inclusive playgrounds in the New Orleans area. Nyx is partnering with NORDC for the projects.

“Children of all abilities should be able to play and grow together,” Nyx Captain and founder Julie Lea said. “By building these playgrounds we are investing in our future through the children of New Orleans.”

The inclusive playgrounds will be built in Mid-City, New Orleans East and Algiers and will be developmentally appropriate for children with and without disabilities.

Each year, the Krewe of Nyx raises money for a different charitable organization. Previous beneficiaries of Nyx’s fundraising efforts include the Autism Society of Greater New Orleans, Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Hero Dogs.

Death of a Gangster is a night of intrigue that will include a three-course dinner and live and silent auctions. WWL-TV sports director Doug Mouton will serve as emcee. Tickets can be purchased online at KreweOfNyx.org.
