“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou

Nancy Kirkeby will serve as the Assistant Treasurer for the Junior League of New Orleans (JLNO). Her term on the Board of Directors will run for two years, during which she will oversee the financial affairs of the organization, including reviewing and approving the League’s operating budget and authorizing purchases. She plans to support the Treasurer in her goals for the year and to learn from her.

Over the past seven years as a member of the League, Nancy has served as Financial Literacy Chair, Nominating Committee member, WE Fellowship Vice-Chair, Community Council Treasurer, Ways & Means Treasurer, and committee member of Community Affairs and Fundraiser Finance. She joined the Junior League to volunteer and meet like-minded women. Both of these things are still what she likes most about JLNO, but the best part is when people learn she is a member—“Oh, you’re in the Junior League? Y’all get things done!”

Her financial skills are applied daily as a Controller for MobileQubes Inc., a start-up technology company. Nancy is an experienced accounting professional with a focus on business intelligence and implementing efficient systems with solid policies. She has worked in a variety of industries creating better financial reporting systems and fixing account software problems. Her diverse background includes stints as Controller for several high-profile commercial production companies plus a talent agency in both Los Angeles and New York.

A resident of the Tremé neighborhood, Nancy is active in the New Orleans community as Board Vice-President of VIALink 211, Board Secretary for the Historic Faubourg Tremé Association (HFTA), and a cook at St. George’s Episcopal Church Dragon Café. She also enjoys food, wine, Dodgers baseball, Saints football, and is a licensed City of New Orleans Tour Guide!

Nancy grew up in Hollywood Hills, California and attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with International Relations. After college she attended culinary school, and her first job in the film industry was in catering. Since joining JLNO, Nancy says, “The best thing I’ve learned is how to be an effective community volunteer.”
