Nancy Robbins has always been interested in interiors—“I’ve been doing this since I was a young girl. I decorated my own room,” she says. And years of experience have certainly enhanced her artistic gift.
With more than 30 years of decorating homes and other interiors, Robbins says that many of the interiors she designs have a “Swedish or Italian kind of style, with cleaner upholstery and fabrics.”
One of her main goals as a decorator is to focus on the ambiance of the room. “I think it is very important for an interior to not look like a show room. You want it to look like it was collected [over the years], not like it was done all at once,” she says. Robbins also feels it is important for a room to be inviting. “My clientele likes fine interiors,” she says, “But I think we all want a very comfortable atmosphere. We want to invite our friends over.”
With new clients, she holds a consultation, followed by measurements and floor plans.
A project can also include renovations and space planning—anything that has to do with the home. “We do everything!” she says.
If you’re looking for a finishing touch for a room or for a special gift, Robbins’ 3,000-square-foot showroom in Mandeville offers Oriental rugs, custom upholstery, furniture, antiques, art, and home accessories.
Though she has clients all over the country, Robbins, a native New Orleanian, loves being back in the New Orleans area and is enthusiastic about helping her clients create the home of their dreams.
