The National Council of Jewish Women, Greater New Orleans Section, celebrated a legacy of service and leadership at its annual Hannah G. Solomon Luncheon, held Feb. 2 at the Audubon Tea Room.
Named for the founder of the National Council of Jewish Women, the Hannah G. Solomon Award recognizes an outstanding volunteer whose commitment to community reflects Solomon’s vision of social justice, advocacy and service. The NCJW is a grassroots organization that transforms progressive ideals into action through volunteerism, education and advocacy.
This year’s honoree, Leslie Jacobs, was recognized for more than 35 years of unwavering dedication to improving the lives of Louisiana’s children. A respected business leader, education advocate and philanthropist, Jacobs has championed initiatives at the local, regional and state levels, helping build organizations and create opportunities that have strengthened both New Orleans and communities across Louisiana.
With her selection, Jacobs joins an esteemed roster of previous award recipients, including Melanie Bronfin, Judy Barrasso, Ina Weber Davis, Madeleine Landrieu, Susan Hess, Kim Sport, Ana and Dr. Juan Gershanik, Julie Schwam Harris and Ruth Kullman.

Fun Fact: The NCJW is approaching its 130th year in New Orleans in 2027.
