New Beginnings

During a time when many businesses are seeing closures due to the pandemic, a new hotel is bringing a new era to the French Quarter. One11 Hotel is the first hotel allowed to open in the Vieux Carre district since the ‘60s, taking up residence in the old Louisiana Sugar Refining Company.

The One11 Hotel features 83 guest rooms and suites on eight different floors with three “sweets” (which is the hotel’s cheeky spelling of suites) aiming to give guests a look into the area and the building’s rich history. The Riverbend Sweet, located on the top floor, is a spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite with two private terraces with seating and a wet bar and what sounds like just enough space for a bride and her maids to get ready for the Big Day.

TPG Hotels & Resorts, along with local real estate firm Tchoupitoulas Partners, were responsible for reinventing the inactive space to a “’New-Stalgic’ modern-luxury concept that showcases and celebrates the building’s historic elements inside and out, while incorporating a trendy and modern design.”

In addition to the spacious rooms and views of the French Quarter, One11 Hotel has the Batture Bistro + Bar for drinks and dining. The restaurant, located on the first floor of the hotel, boasts plush seating and soft lighting for a casual, trendy spot for visitors to meet for a nip and a nosh in the middle of the Quarter.

Those looking to utilize One11 Hotel for private events can book a multi-room block or block out an entire floor of the hotel for their wedding party and guests. The hotel’s team offers customized trip planning for guests staying at the hotel. This includes organizing incentive trips and executive stays.

A press release about the opening noted that the hotel still dons most of the original architectural elements of the building – including original brick walls, columns and wood beams – making it an ideal spot for a couple looking to capture that true New Orleans vibe in some of their wedding day photos.
