NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Residents and visitors can now drop-off glass and other recyclable materials at the Louisiana Jazz Museum on Esplanade Avenue every Tuesday, at Cabrini Park on Dauphine Street every Thursday and at The Historic New Orleans Collection on Toulouse Street every Sunday as part of a new program designed to improve the quality of life for all who live, work or visit the French Quarter.
The weekly drop-offs should weigh no more than 100 lbs. and can be taken to the New Orleans Jazz Museum (400 Esplanade Ave.) on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Cabrini Park at 1219 Dauphine St. on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and The Historic New Orleans Collection at 616 Toulouse St. on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Visit www.fqmd.org for more information.
“The recycling program is something our residents have wanted for a while,” said Karley Frankic, executive director of French Quarter Management District. “Thanks to our partners at Glass Half Full, this important quality of life French Quarter service is now a reality,” she said. Glass Half Full recycles glass “waste” into sand and gravel for disaster relief, coastal restoration and eco construction.Each French Quarter site will accept glass, aluminum, paper/cardboard, and plastics #1 and #2. A Glass Half Full staff member will be on site during the duration of each drop-off to help attendees sort their recyclable and answer questions.
