New Marigny Theatre Presents “Love Letters of World War II”

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Guests are invited to “Love Letters of World War II,” an original dance theatre production this November at New Marigny Theatre. Through original music by artist Sarah Quintana, dynamic choreography and live narration of authentic wartime letters, the show is said to bring to life the extraordinary resilience of love during one of the darkest chapters in history.

Set against the backdrop of the German occupation of France, “Love Letters of World War II” tells the true story of Yvette and Roger, a young French couple separated by war. As Roger is deported to a prison camp, their love endures through letters revealing their budding courtship, messages of heartbreak and hope, and the unforgettable moment when Yvette’s scarf saves Roger’s life.

Interwoven are powerful war stories of resilience, including the lesser represented and courageous women of the French Resistance and their connection with Louisiana’s Cajun soldiers, affectionately known as “Frenchies,” who served as interpreters, utilizing their knowledge of French as a key instrument in the Allied victory. Each thread contributes to a broader tapestry of human connection, sacrifice, and the moral clarity that helped define a generation. As Roger writes to Yvette: “Love is all around.”
