NEW ORLEANS (press release) – New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is celebrating 40 years of service to the New Orleans region. Since 1983, NOAHH has provided more than 750 new affordable homes for hard-working New Orleans families and more than 450 home repairs for elderly and disabled residents across the region.
In addition to housing programs, New Orleans Habitat operates a ReStore providing discounted building materials and home goods open to the public. Since its opening, the ReStore has saved more than 1 million tons of waste from being disposed of in landfills. We also run an intern and apprenticeship program, providing construction skills for opportunity youth in New Orleans.
NOAHH is a leader in long-term disaster recovery efforts, specifically following Hurricanes Katrina and Ida. NOAHH has hosted tens of thousands of volunteers who have assisted in disaster recovery efforts across the region.
