New Orleans has long been a popular wedding destination. However, recently we received word of new research released by a wedding chapel in Las Vegas ranking New Orleans in the top 10 elopement destinations in the world.
Chapel of the Flowers, one of Las Vegas’ top wedding chapels, studied worldwide elopement trends, as well as Google search data for the past year to compile the list.
Naturally, the data showed Las Vegas wearing the international crown as most popular elopement destination for couples. The city sees almost 12,000 Google searches each month that contain phrases such as “Vegas elopement” and “elope in Vegas.”
What’s more interesting to us is the placement of New Orleans on the list. The Crescent City ranked No. 7 with 3,900 monthly searches, closely behind Nashville at No. 6 with 3,975 searches.
Additionally, last year, The Knot magazine named New Orleans among the trending places to elope around the world. “Topping your vows with beignets and lively jazz is the way to do it in New Orleans,” said reporter Esther Lee. “Couples who appreciate good food, Bayou culture and something slightly-beyond the standard concept of an elopement will want to consider this city for their ceremony.” Read the full story from The Knot here.
