New Orleans Medical Mission Services Mission Possible Gala

The 23rd annual Mission Possible Gala for New Orleans Medical Mission Services, themed “Glimmer of Hope,” brought supporters together Oct. 18 at the Copeland Tower Ballroom for an evening of celebration and purpose.

Presented by the Larry and Marla Garvey Fund, the event highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to delivering critical medical care to underserved communities across Central and South America.

Guests enjoyed entertainment from Yea You Right and cuisine coordinated by Mirepoix Event Catering. The evening’s live auction, led by Chuck Mutz of Black Tie Auction, featured eight items, including a “Windows of Heaven” painting by Suzanne Lyell and an exclusive dinner for 10 prepared by Chef Alex Patout with wine pairings. A silent auction offered approximately 150 items. Additional fundraising included a “Fund a Need” initiative supporting surgeries on mission.

Founded in 2001 by a group of Greater New Orleans physicians and business leaders, the New Orleans Medical Mission provides surgical and medical services to those who otherwise have little or no access to care. The organization also partners with local hospitals to collect and reprocess unused medical supplies that would otherwise be discarded, ensuring they are put to life-saving use on mission trips. All surgical materials used in the field are donated.

Fun Fact: This was the gala’s first year at Copeland Tower with the decor provided by Kern Productions, which included beautiful, illuminated gold trees on the table as well as an angel who walked around and greeted guests.
