NEW ORLEANS (press release) – New Orleans was recently named to TripAdvisor’s “Most Excellent City Overall” list. This designation is based on New Orleans having earned the highest percentage of TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence recipients. Certificates of Excellence are given to accommodations, restaurants and experiences that deliver great service and consistently achieve high traveler reviews on TripAdvisor. New Orleans is listed among international destinations such as Reykjavik, Iceland; Edinburgh, UK; and Marrakech, Morocco on the “Most Excellent City Overall” list.
“It is an honor to have New Orleans recognized for its unmatched hospitality by one of the world’s largest travel websites that is consistently used by travelers when researching and planning their vacations,” said Stephen Perry, president and CEO of New Orleans & Company. “Our attractions, hotels, restaurants and tour companies continue to earn the Certificate of Excellence for offering guests unparalleled service establishing New Orleans as top travel destination.”
“This recognition is a true testament to the hard work of the great men and women in the tourism and hospitality industry who are providing our visitors with a first-class New Orleans experience,” said Mark Romig, president and CEO, New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation. “This is such an amazing honor, and together with our industry partners, we will continue to make New Orleans a world-class destination.”
Certificate of Excellence winners are selected through an algorithm that calculates a business’ time on the site as well as the quality, quantity and timeliness of user reviews. The percentage of businesses within a destination that receive a Certificate of Excellence are then used to determine the list of “Most Excellent” winners.
