NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The New Orleans Public Library is teaming up with Glassroots – the non-profit arm of Glass Half Full – to bring a free glass recycling program Uptown every month. With support from the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library, the Library is pleased to be expanding this program to a third location. Starting Nov. 17, residents are welcome to bring their used glass to Milton H. Latter Memorial Library (5120 St. Charles Ave.) on the third Friday of the month, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

WHY:Glass Half Full is the only glass recycling facility to offer free drop-off services to residents. Located in New Orleans East, the Glass Half Full drop-off center may be difficult for all residents to access. Earlier this year, the New Orleans Public Library teamed up with Glass Half Full’s non-profit arm, Glassroots, offering two satellite drop-off locations for residents seeking a free place to recycle their glass. Over the past 7 months, the Library has helped Glassroots divert 5,150 pounds of glass from landfills and into Glass Half Full’s green initiative, including those working to combat coastal erosion.
The glass drop-off at Latter Library is the only Glassroots drop-off location Uptown, and the Library is proud to be a part of this important expansion.
