Patrons of the arts flocked to the “Opening Night Party” for the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane on Friday, July 23, 2021, for an evening of theatre, libations and socializing.

This year’s production was The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare, dedicated to the memory of Herschel Abbott Jr., Shakespeare Festival colleague who treasured the works of the bard. Abbott’s wife and daughter, Anne and Tina Abbott, were in attendance.

The performance was directed by Jon Greene. Torey Hayward served as Assistant/Remount Director. Members of the team who made the show possible also included: Set Designer Joan Long, Co-Costume Designers Hope Bennett and Christopher Arthur, Props Designer Destany Gorham and Box Office Manager Juanita Smith. Artistic Designer of the Festival is Marty Sachs, and Managing Director is Clare Moncrief. Operations Manager is Graham Burk.

Black Pearl Catering Co. catered an array of cheeses, meats and vegetables to accompany wine and champagne donated by MRB Bar and Restaurant. Trader Joe’s provided soap and orchid arrangements.

Among the attendees were board members and advisory board members: Bonnie Boyd, Marie Chan, Nell Nolan, Kathryn Scurlock, Cassie Worley, Juan Barona and Louise Hoffman.
