Marissa Allweiss is public relations informational officer for The Preservation Salvage Store. The store opened in 2007 to help preserve the historic architecture and identity of New Orleans. The store receives donations of materials from deconstructed homes and resells them at reduced prices. Marissa explains why salvaging material from old New Orleans homes is important, especially because in many cases, this valuable material is no longer being made.
