Russ Varvel is senior vice president of Charter Sales and International Business for the Great American Steamboat Co. Not since the bygone days of the Delta Queen has New Orleans hosted a steamboat that carries passengers on overnight excursions on the Mississippi River. Varvel explains the origins of the Great American Steamboat Co. and shares the back stories about the Delta Queen. He describes the different cruises available on the American Queen and tells us about many of the stops the steamboat makes during its voyages. Much of the furniture on the American Queen is authentic antique furniture from the 1800s; these vintage pieces contribute greatly to the gracious atmosphere of days gone by that permeates the beautiful steamboat.
