New Summer Items at SoBou and Jack Rose

NEW ORLEANS – Summer is a time for celebration – kids are out of school, vacations are booked – and nothing goes better with summer and celebration than food.

SoBou and Jack Rose are both entertaining new items on their summer menus.

SoBou’s modern interiors and French Quarter vibes pair well with just about any occasion.

A few noteworthy dishes include the yellowfin tuna cones with avocado ice cream (tip: ask for a plate on the side, the ice cream comes on top and can be a little tricky to eat all together), crispy oyster tacos and the crispy duck leg confit. Tip: ask for Jacques as your waiter.

Jack Rose provides guests with an Instagrammable experience with their popart interior, funky décor and, of course, the presence of arguably the most Instagrammed painting in the city – Lil Wayne by Ashley Longshore.

Known for their mile high pie, Jack Rose has some additional showstoppers on their menu. The crawfish bread appetizer, dare I say, was better than that of the famous Jazz Fest crawfish bread. And I’m sticking by my statement. Additionally, their steak tartar and banana dulcey bread pudding are can’t miss menu items. Tip: try the Ruby Slipper cocktail to start.

Lagniappe:

Toups’ Meatery debuted their new happy hour times and menu. Noteworthy items include, as always, their cracklins and boudin balls, as well as the cucumber salad with a surprising soy sauce vinaigrette.
