Mister Mao
There’s always fun to be had at Mister Mao and New Year’s is no exception. Helmed by Chef/Owner Sophina Uong, ring in the new year on Sunday, Dec. 31, with House of Prime Rib – a festive four-course prix fixe dinner. Featuring signature bold and inventive dishes for $85 per person, diners can start with a Little Gem Salad with pickled beet, egg mimosa, fried oyster crackers, scallion, and pink dressing. The main course, served family-style is Roast Prime Rib of Beef with turmeric creamed greens, mashed Yukon gold potatoes, Dutch baby cream of hot ass horseradish, and beef tallow jus. Save room for Dark Chocolate Peppermint Tart or a delightful Bananas Foster Cream Pie. Mister Mao will also offer vegetarian-pescatarian-gluten-free options (must be pre-ordered), such as Puppy Drum (4lbs GLUTEN FREE) with fingerling, asparagus, saffron, and pimento aioli; and King Trumpet Mushroom with fennel, satsuma, spinach risotto, and herb salad. Mister Mao will also kick off the new year with its a la carte Walk of Shame Dim Sum brunch on Monday, Jan. 1. With three seatings at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., the restaurant will offer an array of dim sum, available off the menu, as well as rotating on the pushcart, including Chinese Sausage + Crab Fried Rice with schmaltz; Sheng Jian Bao – pan fried pork dumplings;Char Siu Chicken Baked Buns with Dutch Crunch; Singapore Curry Fried Tofu; Star Anise Pork Belly + Braised Soybeans; Boiled Shrimp Dumplings with black vinegar sauce; and more. On Sunday, Dec. 31, Tujague’s – the second oldest restaurant in New Orleans – will offer a delicious four-course prix fixe New Year’s Eve menu prepared by Executive Chef Gus Martin for $90 per person (plus tax and gratuity). From 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., guests will relish in Seafood Gumbo with Louisiana popcorn rice, followed by Truffled Gulf Shrimp and Crab Salad with crisp phyllo and baby lettuces. As the year comes to an end, Costera invites visitors on a gastronomic culinary journey on Sunday, Dec. 31, with its exclusive four-course family-style tasting menu. Priced at $95 per person, enjoy first-course dishes, which include Marinated American Red Snapper and Spanish Octopus, LA Blue Crab Croquettes with herb aioli and tomato tapenade, and Crispy Veal Sweetbreads with lemon caper relish. Indulge in the appetizer – the Antipasto Platter with a selection of salumi, formaggi (cheese), and house-made antipasti; Pasta choices include Ricotta Truffle Agnolotti with fresh shaved black winter truffle and Parmigiano Reggiano and Spaghetti alle Vongole with Florida littleneck clams, and garlic and lemon pangrattato; Second-course includes Braised Beef Short Rib with herb and caper salsa verde; Parmigiano Reggiano Polenta with Calabrian chili and roasted mushroom; and Shaved Fennel and Arugula Salad with toasted hazelnuts and Meyer lemon. this New Year’s Eve the team will host a Caviar & Champagne & Fried Chicken event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to celebrate the new year in partnership with Caviar Star. The opulent celebration is complete with bottomless champagne, an abundance of caviar, and elevated bites from Chef Ben Triola, the new executive chef at The Chloe, such as Fried Chicken Bites with Salmon Roe Ranch and Pimento Cheese Gougeres. On Saturday, Dec. 23, from 11-2 p.m., Palm&Pine hosts their first ever holiday pole brunch with Pole Burlesque performances by New Orleans’ burlesque queen Bella Blue. King Brasserie & Peacock Room
King Brasserie and Bar at Kimpton Hotel Fontenot invites the public to come celebrate the last night of 2023 with us and send the year off in New Orleans fashion, with great food and drinks, amazing jazz, and good company. King’s four-course prix fixe menu, prepared by Executive Chef Samuel Peery and his stellar culinary team, will celebrate what King does so well – using beautifully fresh ingredients to give guests an experience of the beloved brasseries of the French Riviera region, permeated with the distinct flavors of Louisiana.
New Orleans jazz performer Audrey LeCrone will fill the restaurant with gorgeous music from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., while patrons enjoy a menu that begins with an amuse bouche of Alpine Cheesecake with Kaluga caviar and Thomasville tomme. The menu continues to build to crescendo from there, as they move next to Spanish Bluefin Tuna Belly with tender greens and pepper jelly vinaigrette, and then Langoustine & Foie Gras, which will feature sea urchin bread pudding and black garlic. The third course offers a choice between a Ribeye that’s been aged for 40 days in Herbs de Provence with royal trumpet, potato, rainbow chard and beet root bordelaise and Duck Breast with celeriac, Brussels sprouts, satsuma and Burgundy truffle. For dessert, guests are given a choice of two of Pastry Chef Lanna Talley’s strongest finishers, the French Resolution with Champagne mousse, local lemon, raspberry and pistachio or the Caramel Torte.
