New Years in New Orleans

New Years To Dos

As usual, there are a number of options for ringing in the New Year in New Orleans. In what has quickly become one of the most popular parties for the New Year, the Hyatt is continuing their Big Night New Orleans party with a huge number of entertainment options. The great thing about this party is that tickets include several open bars all night and VIP tickets include gourmet buffets as well. This is a great option if you want to get a room at the hotel and carry your party on into the night. If you expect to spend the evening further uptown, Galactic and Boyfriend will be throwing a bash at Tipitina’s. Tips is always a great place to ring in the New Year and the VIP edition of this show includes a catered dinner from Jacques-Imo’s along with an open bar. A little further uptown, the Heartattacks will be holding court at the Maple Leaf. The Heartattacks feature Terrence Houston on drums, June Yamagishi on guitar, Keiko Komaki on keys and Drew Calhoun on sax. They will be accompanied by Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Charlie Wooton Project.  See The Revivalists and special guests the Seratones at the Orpheum. The Revivalists will be celebrating their banner year and the universal acclaim for their 2015 record, Men Amongst Mountains. If you are looking to laugh, Amy Schumer will be at the Mahalia Jackson. This show will be a great way to start the evening before you wander into the Quarter for the rest of the celebration.

However you decide to ring in the celebration, have a happy holiday. We’ll see you back here in the new year for more great music coverage.

If you’re looking for some tunes to get your festivities rolling here is a playlist of some of the best songs of the year.
