The Uptowner on Henry Clay was transformed this past November 7th for a soiree fit for the Prince of Persia himself, when the Louisiana chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held its Wine and Roses Gala. The theme for the evening was Arabian Nights, and this fifth annual fundraiser certainly had all the romantic mystery and pizzazz of a sultry summer in the far-flung Middle East. Fleur de Tease provided some girly action entertainment, and DJ Quinn Landry was on hand as well. The more than 175 invitees were treated to cuisine prepared by some of the city’s finest chefs and restaurants, including Patois, Vega Tapas Café, Herbsaint and GW Fins. Mary and Greg Sonnier organized the chefs for the event and its preceding VIP reception. Fabulous wines from around the globe were available for guests to partake in and enjoy, and many were also offered as one of the upscale offerings from the live and silent auctions held throughout the evening. There was also a high-end raffle. The evening was a huge success, with nearly $25,000 in proceeds going to the benevolent foundation’s worthy mission of not only finding a way to control cystic fibrosis but also to one day hopefully cure it.
