NOCHI and Diageo Partner to Bring Learning Skills for Life to New OrleansNEW ORLEANS (press release) – New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) and Diageo North America have partnered to launch Learning Skills for Life (LS4L) in Louisiana.

Launched in North America in 2014, the program Learning Skills for Life provides unemployed and underemployed people with free basic employability skills, specialist training, and work experience within the hospitality industry. It has been active in Norwalk, CT; Houston, TX and Washington, DC. Since 2008, the program has empowered disadvantaged people through enhanced skills and employability in more than 40 countries.

“We are very excited about this partnership and confident that Learning Skills for Life will become a reliable option for training and job placement, a charitable arm for scholarships, and a resource for students who want to pursue culinary studies in the New Orleans community,” said Dr. Danielle Robinson, Diageo Head of Learning Skills for Life.

“At NOCHI, we are empowering people with the tools they need for lifelong, upwardly mobile careers and meeting a real demand within the industry for skilled employees,” said NOCHI Executive Director Leah Sarris. “Diageo is a global leader in the world of spirits and we are thrilled to partner with them in expanding our vocational training programs into bartending and hospitality. We see Learning Skills for Life as an opportunity to not only enhance our educational repertoire but to serve more members of our community.”
