NEW ORLEANS (press release) – NOCHI’s Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts students are nearing the end of their 100-day certifications and are inviting members of the New Orleans community to join them for lunch at their pop-up café, dreamed up and operated 100 percent by the students. This capstone course is the culmination of everything they’ve learned in front- and back-of-house.
Tanchi Kitchen is inspired by Louisiana’s ancestral foodways, an homage to pre-colonial Native American cuisine and indigenous ingredients from alligator to regional produce. Each ticket includes a three-course prix-fixe lunch; homemade sodas, wine, beer, cocktails, coffee and tea will be available à la carte.
The café will be open both Tuesday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Dec. 6 for lunch 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Reservations required.
One hundred percent of proceeds from the Tanchi Kitchen support the NOCHI Scholarship Fund. More than half of NOCHI students rely on financial assistance to enroll, and community support allows the Institute to open more career pathways in the hospitality industry.
