NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Locally-owned Mardi Gras superstore NOLA Throws announced an exciting event – the Inaugural Kick-Off to Carnival Party, a free community event that celebrates local culture and the spirit of the carnival season.
The party with a purpose will take place on Saturday, Jan. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the newly expanded NOLA Throws located at 2325 Belle Chasse Hwy. in Gretna. The fun festivities will feature local favorites including Lucky Dogs and king cake, a live performance by The Roots of Music, free gifts for the first 200 guests, a $500 gift certificate raffle, and more.
“Mardi Gras is a time of year where friends and family come together to enjoy the traditions we all love,” said Dimple Agrawal, owner of NOLA Throws. “As we look ahead to an exciting season of festivities, the Kick-Off to Carnival Party will give locals a fun event to do what we do best – celebrate our culture and give back to our community.”

In collaboration with the special event, NOLA Throws is excited to announce its partnership with The Roots of Music, a local nonprofit that addresses disparities by providing comprehensive music and instrumental training, academic support, mentorship, hot meals, and round-trip transportation for 9 to 14-year-olds from low-income households. NOLA Throws is donating 10% of sales the day of the Kick-Off to Carnival Party to The Roots of Music.
