Mark Romig is President and CEO of the New Orleans Tourism and Marketing Corporation (NOTMC). As Mark explains, "The work that we do is really not seen, other than if you are outside the City of New Orleans … We are the city's official leisure travel promotion agency." In this podcast, Mark comments about New Orleans' recent top 10 ranking as a world destination by Travel and Leisure magazine readers. New Orleans joined Barcelona, Rome, Florence, and Kyoto, among others, to win this prestigious designation. Mark also explains the difference between leisure travelers and groups, including convention business, and describes how these two markets feed each other. Those of us who are interested in learning how the tourism business works in New Orleans will enjoy the insights of this consummate professional who knows the tourism industry inside and out.
