With Grace Kaynor and Michelle Ogden as co-chairs, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art hosted a glamorous gala on October 9. Inspired by Texas artist Robert Julian Onderdonk’s painting, the theme of the gala was “Bluebonnet Scene with Girl,” an exhibition featuring Onderdonk’s art had opened just a week prior to the benefit.

A silent auction was held in the Patrick F. Taylor library, where guests also sampled hors d’oeuvres from Southern Hospitality Systems. Up for bidding were pieces by by Louviere+Vanessa, Alan Gerson, Shirley Rabe Masinter, Dan Rizzie, Pinkney Herbert and numerous others. O What a Night also featured a dinner by Chef Ryan Prewitt of the Link Restaurant Group and dessert by Chef Tariq Hanna of Sucré, a live auction, music and dancing and Texas-inspired décor by Thea Pagel with florals by Mitch’s Flowers.

The highlight of the evening were the awards ceremonies that honored actress, artist and collector Jessica Lange with the Opus Award and T.G. Solomon and the Solomon family with the Ogden Lifetime Achievement award.

Preceding the gala was a patron party on Friday, October 8, held at the home of Susu and Andrew Stall. It featured a preview of live auction items, décor by Urban Earth, music by the New Orleans Concert Band and cuisine by John Rowland and Max Bouzaid of Southern Hospitality System.

In addition to the hundreds who have donated their time, funding and energy to the museum, the sponsors of the evening included Adler’s, the Goldring Family Foundation, Jim Huger and Rita Benson LeBlanc and the New Orleans Saints.
