Old No. 77 Hotel Celebrates Amtrak’s New Mardi Gras Service with Discounted Stays

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – On Monday, Aug. 18, Amtrak relaunched its Mardi Gras Service, a route that connects Mobile, Alabama to New Orleans with stops along the way including Pascagoula, Biloxi, Gulfport and Bay St. Louis. The Service, which was halted in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, returned with much fanfare from residents who live along the route, as well as visitors and local tourism officials who have been waiting 20 years for it to be re-instituted. Fares start as low as $15 for the full length of the journey, which takes approximately 4 hours from end to end and will run twice a day.

Additionally, while the Baton Rouge-to-New Orleans route is still under construction, passengers traveling from Baton Rouge can opt to jump on the twice a day Greyhound bus service to the Big Easy to continue their trip via passenger rail to Mobile.

To celebrate, The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery is offering a new All Aboard Alabama promotion to visitors who arrive by train, with up to 20 percent off room rates at the time of booking. Effective beginning August 18 and running indefinitely, guests can book the All Aboard Alabama offer via the booking link – HERE.

The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery has 167 rooms including three Artist Loft suites, a revolving art gallery in the lobby showcasing local artists, 24-hour fitness center, complimentary bicycle rentals and other welcoming amenities, all in an atmosphere that blends urban character and soulful style.
