On January 5, the Mystic Krewe of Olympia held its 43rd annual bal masque at the Castine Center in Mandeville. The racy theme of the tableau was “The Olympia Fantasy 500.” The NASCAR décor was carried out throughout the festive decorations, float title and bright colored race team costumes. The stage was transformed into a racetrack complete with flag girls while the krewe made their speedy entrance. Then the masked captain and officers entered to greet his subjects and guests for a most enjoyable evening, proceeding with the presentation of the Royal Court.
King Zeus XLIII, whose identity remains mystic, made his royal entrance proceeding to his throne. Reigning as Queen was Jessica Leigh Walther, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Walther III of Covington. The Queen wore a regal gown embellished with hand embroidered Swarovski crystal and pearls.
Presented as maids were Michele Louise Crosby, Megan Kathleen Discon, Mallory Kemp Morse, Caroline Marie Murley, Margery Foard Paddison, Lauren LeDoux Read, Lydia Irene Robin, Michelle Alexis Senner, Laine Elizabeth and Adele Herrington Thomas, Brett Ashley Williams and Sarah Kirk Williamson.
Ladies in waiting to her majesty were Taylor Remi Boudreau, Madeline Juliet Campo, Caroline Alyse Crouch, Mallory Marie Crouch, and Lena Meempat Decker, Angelle Hodges de la Houssaye, Caroline Josephine Hingle, Allyson Althea Lacosta, Elizabeth Seuzeneau Lagarde, Catherine Blake Lea, Anne Crosby Myers, Shelby Marion Rase, Hadley Victoria Rase, Courtney Paige Rowbatham and Alexis Nicole Roy.
Pages to the Royal Majesties were Christopher Michael Barnett, Jacques Anthony Gerard de Passage and Alexander James Robert.
Following the presentation, krewe members and their guests enjoyed a supper dance with a buffet from LA Grill of Mandeville and music by Olympia’s two Royal Bands, Compozitionz and Johnny and the Music Makers.
