It’s been another roller coaster of a week, both weather-wise and pandemic-wise. But, as the month of January is nearing a close, there are plenty of things to keep busy, whether you are staying in our venturing out.
12 Mile Limit has been welcoming patrons back in a big way. The Mid-City watering hole recently surprised visitors with a one-off “Free Food Tuesday,” with a menu of chicken with tomato sauce, crawfish étouffée and mushroom étouffée from Black Pearl Catering. The neighborhood mainstay regularly features free food on Mondays, often along with open mic night presentations, but the unexpected treat shows how much they appreciate their regulars and visitors. Definitely check them out. And, if available, don’t pass up the famed Sunday brunch punch (bourbon, allspice, lime, orange juice, and Ango), which is, regularly, $3 until noon.

Speaking of national attention, Commander’s Palace’s own Ti Martin was recently interviewed for a piece in the Washington Post. Fabulous kitchen? Check. Women in peril? Check. Shadowy figure watching from afar? Check and check. Break out the popcorn and embrace the chill.
