For 21 years, the Louisiana Children’s Museum has played an important role in the lives of local children with its programs, classes and exhibits that bridge the gap between learning and fun. It is truly a shining gem in a city where there’s so much to learn.
But who says kids have all the fun? Hire a babysitter for the kids and prepare for a night of whimsy at the 10th annual CHAIRish the Children event, which will give you a chance to relive childhood at the Never Land-themed gala and benefit. Co-chairs – and local moms – Melissa Scandaliato and Elizabeth LeBlanc have put together an evening of fun and fundraising that will make you feel young again!
On August 23, the LCM will host a “Pixie Hollow” patron party where guests will be treated to a special cooking demonstration by Chef Brian Landry of Galatoire’s.
During the main event, there will be a very special auction. Guests will be bidding, via live and silent auctions, on one-of-a-kind chairs designed by artists around town, as well as local school children. In addition, jewelry, photography, original artwork, furniture, theater tickets, dinners, vacation packages and more will be available. Terrance Osborne, George Rodrigue, James Michalopolous and LeRoy Neiman are just some of the familiar artists’ names who have so graciously donated items for the gala.
Sponsors include Capital One, AT&T, Schlumberger, J. Edgar Monroe Foundation, Harrah’s New Orleans Casino, Irwin Fritchie, Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, Toler Foundation, PortsAmerica and Whitney National Bank. Media sponsor is Magic 101.9.
