The Audubon Zoo is getting ready to make a splash! Whitney Zoo-To-Do and Humana’s Zoo-To-Do for Kids are right around the corner, ready to celebrate the grand opening of Audubon’s Cool Zoo Splash Park, an exciting brand-new addition to the zoo – Audubon’s Splash Park will feature playgrounds with various waterslides and animal-themed fountains.
Zoo-To-Do for Kids kicks off the event season on Friday, April 30. Dr. Jenny Charpentier will serve as gala chairwoman for the casual spring party. Starting at 5 p.m., sponsors and patrons will enjoy lavish food and
drinks as well as children’s entertainment and complimentary canvas totes. General admission begins at 6:30, when event goers will enjoy a red carpet fashion show, arcade games, face painters, magicians and clowns.
And then, the main event: Whitney Zoo-To-Do, presented by Gala Chairwoman Libby Hoefer on Friday, May 7. The elegant party starts for sponsors and patrons at 7:30 p.m. in the Audubon Tea Room and Garden, followed by the gala on the zoo grounds at 8:30. This black-tie affair will feature a silent auction, a luxury raffle for a 2010 Lexus hybrid, specialty cocktails, dinner and dancing. Entertainment won’t be in short supply with Sister Sledge (of “We Are Family” fame), Louisiana Spice, Storyville Stompers and others headlining the event.
