On the cover

The Louisiana Children’s Museum on Julia Street has been a New Orleans staple since 1987, enriching children’s lives through education, exploration, creativity and hands-on learning.

To that end, LCM holds an annual fundraiser, CHAIRish the Children, to continue its efforts in the community. The 12th annual CHAIRish event, chaired by Malise Kearney and Shannon Zink, will take place on Saturday, August 28 at LCM at 420 Julia St. A unique feature of the event is the auction, which will include bidding of more than a dozen whimsical chairs created by local young artists.

Also featured on our cover are LCM Board President Dr. Robert Thomas, LCM Executive Director Julia Bland and Yvette Pacaccio, group sales executive of Business Banking and senior vice president of CHAIRish sponsor Capital One Bank.

Guests will enjoy food and drinks from more than 20 local eateries, entertainment from the Thelonius Monk Institute Ensemble and more, all set to this year’s theme of architecture. The event will pay tribute to LCM’s latest exhibit, “New Orleans: Proud to Call It Home Architecture Exhibit,” the first permanent installation of an architecture exhibit in the city.  The exhibit will feature a miniature Jackson Square, a kid-sized shotgun house and Creole cottage and hands-on design and architecture activities and programs.
