The New Orleans cultural season is sounding its beginning once again – with Overture to the Cultural Season’s annual gala leading the way.
This year, the gala’s theme is “Celebration of the Arts,” and the event will be held at the Hilton Riverside Hotel on Saturday, September 11 at 8 p.m.
Overture to the Cultural Season is an umbrella organization for the arts representing more than 50 member
organizations. The organization awards scholarships to talented young students interested in the arts, grants artistic achievement awards to graduating high school seniors, supports endowments to eight colleges and universities and provides publicity for its member organizations.
Proceeds from the organization’s annual gala go toward artistic scholarships. This year’s gala will include live performances by students and faculty from Loyola University’s College of Music and Fine Arts. Dinner will be served and an auction will also be held.
Pictured on the cover are Linda Skidmore Forman and Margaret Mielke, who will serve as event chairwomen; Dr. Donald Boomgaarden, dean of Loyola’s College of Music and Fine Arts, who will serve as honorary chairman; and Lynn Skidmore, president of Overture to the Cultural Season.
