Celebrating its 35th year, the theme of the Contemporary Arts Center’s SweetArts is “Art In The Dark” – of which there will be plenty. One-night only interactive and illuminated art installations will include: “Tunnel” by Paint, “A Kiss in the Dark” by Ashley Longshore, “Shadow Box Burlesque” by Trixie Minx and “Love is in the Air” by Mark Kirk of UP!. For VIPs, there will be intimate “living rooms” scattered throughout the warehouse. And a very intriguing dress code – “Get Lit!”: Attend the gala in all black or all white cocktail attire and the creative artists from UP! Unique Products will adorn you in light and color.
All this – including classic dishes from some of New Orleans’ most well-known chefs, an open bar featuring signature cocktails by local mixologists and music by Decades-A-Go-Go: The CAC DJ Revue – and honorees, too! This year the CAC will honor six individuals and organizations for their “embodiment of the heart and soul of the New Orleans cultural community.”
Join CAC Board President Robyn Dunn Schwarz and co-chairs Martine Chaisson, Sandra Stage Chaisson and Stephanie Huger for the fun on Saturday, February 12 from 9 p.m. until midnight at the CAC, 900 Camp St. There is also an Honorees Reception the same night from 7:30-9 p.m. at the nearby home of Senator and Mrs. Joel T. Chaisson II featuring caviar, tartare, a bubbly bar and a chilled champagne bar. For more information and tickets, call 528-3805 or visit www.cacno.org.
Special thanks to the CAC’s Lindsay Ross and to Jordan DeFrank for making
