Since 1986, the Young Leadership Council has been dedicated to serving the local community by developing leadership through community projects. This year, the organization celebrates its 25th anniversary at its annual Role Model Gala on August 13 at the Sheraton Hotel. Celebrating “a legacy of leadership,” YLC will recognize 25 individuals from a wide range of professions who have made contributions to the New Orleans community.

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with a patron party and exclusive Role Model meet-and-greet happy hour. At 7 p.m., join past Role Model honorees and YLC members and alumni, including board president Joseph I. Giarrusso III, executive director Amy Collins, event chair Aimee Willem and honorary chairs Charlie Leche and Dana Hansel, both past YLC presidents. Following the dinner and awards ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to bid on items during a silent auction, and the Bucktown All-Stars will have guests dancing into the night.

Over the past 25 years, YLC has raised more than $25 million to support community projects in the community.

Some of its projects include the College Admissions Project, One Book One New Orleans, New Orleans: Proud to call it home, YLC Toastmasters Club and YLC Wednesday at the Square.
