A St. Charles Avenue Magazine event is finally happening on St. Charles Avenue. Betsy and Gary Laborde will open their home on the evening of November 3 for “Cocktails for KID smART.” Funds raised will go to support KID smART’s mission to incorporate arts and culture education into public school curricula.
A champagne reception for patrons and sponsors begins at 6:30 p.m., and the gala begins at 7:30. Snacks will be provided by Joel Catering and Event Planning.
Featured artist Charlie Bohn will be giving away individualized, handmade ceramic bowls to all patrons and sponsors so that attendees can “bring home” KID smART’s concept of community responsibility for providing a rich artistic and cultural environment to children.
Gracing our cover this month are hostess Betsy Laborde, event co-chair Judith Barnes-Cochran, event co-chair Robin Benton Crutcher, and KID smART board chairman R. Campbell Hutchinson. Along with event co-chair Barbara Sands and host Gary Laborde, they will be on hand to discuss KID smART’s belief in “the power of art to engage children in learning.”
