Take “Flights of Fancy” into the
time of Howard Hughes and Amelia Earhart at the “2015 Opera Ball” hosted by the Women’s Guild of the New Orleans Opera. On Saturday, January 17, join President of the Women’s Guild Betsy Dowling, Ball Co-Chairs Carol Hall and Ann Duffy, Ball Junior Co-Chair Annie Machado and Ball Auction Chair Dr. Erin Fleming at the newly renovated New Orleans Lakefront Airport. Both Hughes and Earhart flew into the airport and stayed overnight, which makes this location and theme a perfect match for each other.
Events will begin with a Benefactor Party at the penthouse of James and Betty Brooks Doss. Then, preceding the Ball will be a Patron Party in the Walnut Room at the airport, featuring a performance by the New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Orchestra, after which the main event will begin in the main terminal.
The Ball itself will feature music by the Yat Pack, a silent auction, seated dinner and dancing while “tripping the light fantastic.” Adding to all of this themed fun, the Guild encourages 1930s-era and black-tie optional dress.
