The “American Spirit Awards” is a gala celebrating the individuals and organizations whose work reflects the values and spirit of those who served our country during World War II. Chaired by John and Ann Hairston, it will take place June 10 at the museum’s US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center. Proceeds will support educational programming at the museum, continuing the development of classroom materials and professional opportunities for teachers in schools across the country as well as online experiences that bring the museum and its research resources to students around the world.
This year’s American Spirit Medallion will be bestowed upon Dr. Norman C. Francis and Gov. William Winter of Mississippi. The Silver Service Medallion, given to veterans who have served our country with distinction and continue to lead by example, will be presented to Jerry Yellin, Richard E. Cole and Betty Reid Soskin.
Dr. Gordon H. “Nick” Mueller, President and CEO of The National World War II Museum, promises a memorable night. The program includes a Patron Party at 6 p.m. with a champagne cocktail reception; followed the Awards Gala at 7:30, featuring a menu by chef Donald Link; completed by a Post-Party at 9:30, with live entertainment, dancing and dessert.
