NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Opportunity Hub New Orleans (OHUB x NOLA) is excited to announce its collaboration with the Krewe of Nefertiti this Mardi Gras to foster climate innovation and entrepreneurship in the vibrant community of New Orleans East. This partnership aims to bring together expertise, resources, and a shared commitment to sustainable development for the benefit of the local community.
OHUB, the platform for inclusive existential innovation, high-growth entrepreneurship, and early-stage investment, has been at the forefront of supporting new energy entrepreneurial endeavors in the region. In 2023, OHUB joined forces with Greater New Orleans, Inc., The Biden-Harris Administration’s Economic Development Administration, and Louisiana Economic Development (LED) to launch a New Energy Technology Incubator (NETI) in South Louisiana. OHUB concluded its first Climate Technology Bootcamp in early January with 48 promising climate technology start-up companies. OHUB, alongside its partners and representatives from the Krewe of Nefertiti, will award $250,000 to five startups during a pitch event during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) on March 13 at Gallier Hall.
“My formative entrepreneurial skills were developed while an undergraduate at Tulane University in the 90s, and I have always wanted to do something to give back to the region,” said Rodney Sampson, executive chairman and CEO at OHUB. “OHUB’s New Energy Technology Incubator is a diverse, inclusive, and equitable solution for the region’s existential growing climate challenges, and we are grateful for the opportunity to join forces with The Krewe of Nefertiti as we build out this regional new energy ecosystem for all.”
The Krewe of Nefertiti is an all-female social aid and pleasure organization known for its cultural contributions and community engagement. As part of the partnership, OHUB NOLA rode in the Krewe of Nefertiti’s Family Day Parade led by Grand Marshal Tarriona ‘Tank’ Ball of “Tank and the Bangas” on Sunday, Jan. 28, and provide custom throws designed to encourage attendees to join the OHUB x NOLA ecosystem.
In addition to OHUB’s participation in the upcoming parade, the organizations will work together to expose the community to entrepreneurship opportunities in new energy and climate tech via OHUB’s monthly #OHUBNext Professional Networking Events & Masterclasses and a quarterly Climate Tech Bootcamp and Investment Pitch Competition.
